Historical Background

Opened on May 12, 1966, by Fr. Manuel Albizuri SDB, this parish was carved out of St. Paul’s Parish, Marbisu. It originally covered a vast territory from Marbisu to Garo Hills.

Pyndengrei has grown from 38 households at its inception to a spiritually vibrant community today. While it is now the geographically smallest parish in the diocese (25 sq. km), it remains the heart of the Nongstoin region under the care of the Salesians.
