Brief History

Founded on May 12, 1966, Shallang Parish has roots tracing back to the early 1970s. Education began in 1981 with the RCLP Primary School, followed by the "Joplang" school in 1986—a name meaning "to overcome together."

Fr. Alfred Marzo served as the first Parish Priest from 1999 until 2022, when Fr. Denis Toju Sangma was appointed the second Parish Priest.
